South Central Credit Union (SCCU) is a member-owned provider of financial services.
We are dedicated to quality member service and to the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People"
SCCU has three branches located in Jackson and Adrian. We used to be South Central State Employees Credit Union (SCSECU), and changed our name when we expanded our membership base.
Real People. Real Service. Real Difference.
OUR HISTORY
South Central Credit Union was organized as Tri-County State Employees Credit Union on June 16, 1954. In 1986 the name was changed to South Central State Employees Credit Union, when Tri-County merged with Sparton Employees Credit Union.
The Credit Union was organized for the purpose of promoting thrift among its members and to create a source of credit for them at legitimate rates of interest for provident purposes.
The biggest field of membership for the State employees is with the prison in Jackson County. Jackson has the world's largest walled prison. The Credit Union started out in the accounting department of the prison. It was also for Michigan Department of Transportation, State Police, Social Services, Secretary of State, Michigan Unemployment, and any other State employee in the three county area we served.
